Contractual Clinical Social Worker / Counselor

We are hiring a highly dedicated and compassionate clinical social worker/counselor to join our private practice as a contractual therapist. As a contractual clinical social worker/counselor, you are responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing interventions to support client growth and empowerment virtually and in person. Your expertise and advocacy skills will help address the unique challenges faced by these populations, foster resilience, and promote recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments: Thoroughly assess clients' mental health and substance use concerns, considering the complex needs and social determinants of health.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans: Collaborate with clients to create person-centered treatment plans that address mental health and addiction with cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed care, and appropriate interventions in mind.

  • Provide direct clinical services: Offer counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques to individuals (children, youth, adults, and older adults), aiming to improve mental health and reduce harm related to substance use.

  • Case management: Assist clients in locating community resources such as housing, healthcare, employment, education, and legal support.

  • Advocacy: Aid clients in reducing barriers, coordinating care, and enhancing overall well-being.

  • Documentation and record keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards.

  • Continuous professional development: Stay current with research, evidence-based practices, and relevant policies related to mental health, substance use, and marginalized populations. Participate in professional training and seek supervision or consultation as needed.

  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work (MSW) or similar degree from an accredited university.

  • Valid licensure in Michigan.

  • Experience working with marginalized populations, including but not limited to individuals experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ+ individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, individuals living with disabilities, and individuals impacted by poverty.

  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and their intersection with substance use disorders and trauma.

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and the ability to provide culturally sensitive services that respect and honor diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and case management skills, with the ability to formulate and implement effective treatment plans.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with clients and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Empathy, resilience, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries while supporting individuals experiencing distress.

  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software for documentation and communication.

  • Commitment to ethical practice, professional growth, and ongoing learning.

Compensation

  • We offer a 60-70% split depending on licensure and experience.
